... regards as its "beginning", the time in 1971 when a small team of activists set sail from Vancouver, in an old fishing boat, to 'bear witness' to US nuclear testing at Amchitka, a tiny island off the West Coast of Alaska. One of those activists (later President of Greenpeace Canada) was Patrick Moore – but not the famous British astronomer and broadcaster.
